Hotel du Vin experience not what it was
Booked 3 rooms at the Avon Gorge for 3 of us, with breakfast and dinner for a total cost of around £800. I failed to get a meeting room booked, because my request online was ignored, as was my follow-up call (where I was assured of a call back, which never happened.) On arrival we secured a meeting room, but it was all messy and stressful. Dinner in the restaurant was expensive, and way below expectations. My colleague's leek dish had no leeks, but burnt spring onions instead. My medium-rare sirloin was well-done. The crumble was school-dinner standard. Breakfast, again, was average at best - way below the standard of a Premier Inn. My room was clean, but I had to tuck my own sheet in, it was all a bit tatty, and there was a fairly gross stain in the middle of the carpet between the bed and the TV. I've stayed at the other Bristol Hotel du Vin a number of times, and it was always exceptional. I stayed at the Stratford upon Avon one last month, and it was better that the Avon Gorge, but way below expected standards. The brand is clearly struggling.

A four night stay in Brighton
What an experience from the booking process to the arrival to the day we left. 5 stars all the way.
Stayed at this hotel last minute due to our first choice being closed due to COVID and upon arrival our room was presented very well and was everything we had hoped for (Junior Suite). Staff
helped us to the room with our bags.
Drop off parking outside and the opportunity to leave bags safe due to our early arrival.
Staff were particularly friendly and helpful more than happy to go the extra mile to make the stay special. A
special mention to George (Barman) very welcoming, helpful and polite. What a smashing guy. This was our second stay at Hotel du Vin and we will definitely be staying with them again in the future. Quality. Thanks to all staff from the Harris family.

Maybe I'm just biased
Maybe I'm just biased, but I love Hotel du Vin in Henley. No snotty expectation, no mad people (unusual) and great location. Advice for travellers though. Never drive to Henley-on-Thames as these old towns just do not allow for cars easily. But do however bring a bicycle or some walking boots. You cannot fail to find great exercise in every direction. Make sure you hire a canoe and investigate Henerton backwater and the George and Dragon at Wargrave. The walk along the river is over subscribed and quite often muddy but there are many great alternatives. If it has rained a great deal, head along the Fairmile there is a path after the school that takes you up and over the hills, follow the path across and back down and past the Rainbow Inn where you can stop for a drink. Carry on up the public footpath behind the pub and through the tree lined pathway up to the green at Bix. Carry on across the path and past the Church and across the road (carefully as they drive fast there) down the road opposite and along into the woods and down the path back to Lambsridge close and the Farmile once more. It does flood if there is a lot of rain so make sure you have your Wellingtons. If you're cycling then head down the road to Assendon and you will find there are many great routes in any direction.

Not worth the money or time
We stayed at Hotel du Vin Henley-On-Thames December 3rd 2021. Our holiday abroad had to be cancelled due to Covid travel restrictions so we decided to put some of the money towards a luxury night away at a hotel we could not normally afford. We spent hours searching for something that looked extra nice and extra special. With that in mind we travelled to Henley on Thames especially to stay at this hotel, about a 2 hour drive from home. We booked a junior suite at £196 exc breakfast and parking. Upon arrival, we were informed that parking at the hotel was £29 (per night!!!) or we could stay in one of the local pay and display car parks. We went to 3 different car parks, all of which said no over night parking. Not a good start and involved us driving around the town to find parking. In the end we parked in the rugby club car park with permission to stay over night. This meant a 10 minute walk to the hotel with luggage. Not the biggest of problems but still an inconvenience. We checked in and on first impressions the room looked wonderful. Just what we wanted. However, upon closer inspection, the room was dusty, dirty and in need of a thorough deep clean!! Dust was apparent on top of the shower and shower fixings, wooden beams, window sills, toilet, sofa, under the bed was vile, skirting boards etc. The toilet was heavily stained. The shower was very corroded. The shower tray and tiled area around it were mouldy. The floor had not been hoovered. The plug hole for the sink and bath were dirty and stained. There were several large cobwebs. I imagine all the cleaners did before our visit was throw clean bedding on and put new towels in. In fact, judging by how dirty the room was, that's all they've ever done! I would be less shocked if it were a £50 a night travel lodge, but come on, this is a 4 star, expensive room in an expensive hotel chain, it should be spotless given the price!! I also believe the room had been partly redecorated recently. However, I think a drunk 6 year old could of done a better job of painting and decorating!! Absolutely atrocious finish. They had attempted to paint around switches, skirting boards, tiles rather than remove or masking tape them before hand. The tiling was much to be desired, especially around the shower controls, I'm no expert but I think I could of done a better job with my eyes closed.
The bed was reasonably comfy however myself and my partner didn't sleep due to a) loud music and shouting outside until gone 11pm (unsure if other guests or staff) b) a loud humming noise all night (like an air conditioning unit running) and c) the room heater making awfully strange noises at random intervals even though it was turned off!
Breakfast, tired and fed up, we decided to pay £12 each for breakfast which was almost all-you-can-eat and there was a fair amount of selection put on. I had a full English, my partner had eggs benedict. Mine had obviously been reheated and the scrambled eggs looked (and tasted) like something a dog might throw up. My partners breakfast was not great and we have better in our local pub.
I did voice my concerns to a member of staff at checkout who did seem concerned and even made notes. We did get £69 refunded which was a kind gesture and stops me giving this a one star rating but does not remove the fact its a £200 a night room that should of been much, much, much better. Will not be staying in any of their hotels again.

A mixed review
A mixed review. We stayed at the Cheltenham Hotel du vin for our anniversary. Paid for a delux package and it was poor value. The building needs painting and our curtains were very faded. No porter, which was really poor. The bed was comfy and the dinner good. £300 for one night? Not a patch on other places I stayed in last week.

Not off to a good start…
Having booked a room online I thought I'd book a table for dinner and book a car park space. So I phoned. What a mistake! 12 minutes waiting to get through to a centralised call centre. I did book the car parking but during the wait decided to eat elsewhere. The company seems to have forgotten the customer in their quest to cut costs. The CEO should call his own company and see what it feels like!!

Hotel Du Vin Tunbridge.
Hotel Du Vin Tunbridge.
A wonderful week end stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. The only negative is that anyone booking a double room should avoid the front annexe due to excessive outside road noise and banging of internal fire doors, so do book your room at the rear of the building.
Overall our stay was most enjoyable with the front desk always ready and willing to help.

Hotel Du Vin , St Andrews
Hotel Du Vin , St Andrews
Arrived at Hotel , took me over 45 minutes to park the car, at the cost of a very expensive room car parking in my view should be included.
The deal available was dinner was inside at a different location but inside only , ie no catering for more suitable outdoor dining especially during Covid times. We paid for outside dinner on site, the meal was good , however one of my party had to severely raise his voice in anger to stop other guests (we were later informed partly were Hotel Du Vin staff) swearing and using vulgar language every other word let alone sentence. Another family dining congratulated us on our actions , the table of six understood the anger and stopped the language. As this had gone on for 5/10 minutes we found incredible how no member of working staff , let alone staff at table of six had said anything I find incredible how low standards had reached.
The following morning I paid £18 for my breakfast was extremely poor and regretted bothering , two of the smallest rashers of bacon , the baked beans had a sauce mixed in and the weakest coffee I've ever drank , frankly I went up the road to the corner cafe and had a proper breakfast.
At check out I was charged and paid and only late queried the bill and found drinks from another guest
had been added to my bill.
A very poor experience
